PC + 6% TiO₂: How to resist glacial acetic acid?

2025-12-18 12:01:18

The addition of 6% titanium dioxide to PC materials reduces material toughness and increases the risk of chemical permeation due to the presence of extensive interfaces. To meet chemical resistance requirements such as the glacial acetic acid test, targeted modification of the system is necessary.

EVERSUN recommends a composite modification approach: genuine PC + silicone-polycarbonate copolymer + silicone-based impact modifier. The silicone-polycarbonate copolymer improves filler dispersion and interfacial bonding, enhancing overall chemical resistance. The silicone-based impact modifier increases toughness while ensuring performance stability in media such as glacial acetic acid due to its chemical inertness, avoiding the swelling or degradation issues common with conventional toughening agents.

This solution maintains high whiteness and weather resistance while making the material suitable for applications involving contact with chemical media, such as medical equipment housings and laboratory instrument enclosures.
