Advantages and Disadvantages of Potassium Phenylsulfonyl Benzenesulfonate KSS

2026-05-14 10:53:46

Potassium Phenylsulfonyl Benzenesulfonate (KFR-KSS) is a PFBS-free sulfonate flame retardant. Complying with environmental regulatory requirements, it has become a mainstream eco-friendly option and the core choice for current PC flame retardant modification.

Core Advantages

It features a wide application range. At an addition dosage of 0.3%–0.6%, the limiting oxygen index (LOI) of PC material can be increased to approximately 37%.

It delivers excellent transparency and low haze, providing finished products with high surface smoothness and glossiness, suitable for scenarios with strict requirements on appearance and light transmittance.

Limitations

It has strong hygroscopicity and poor storage stability. Its flame retardant efficiency is relatively low with inferior flame retardant durability; the original flame retardant rating often cannot be maintained after 24 hours.
