Advantages and Disadvantages of PFBS-based Sulfonate Flame Retardants for PC

2026-05-12 10:47:00

PFBS-based sulfonate flame retardants, with Potassium Perfluorobutane Sulfonate (PPFBS/KPBS) as the typical representative product.

Core Advantages

It features stable molecular structure and excellent heat resistance with extremely high flame retardancy efficiency.

Only a dosage of 0.06%–0.1% is required. When compounded with 0.2%–0.5% anti-dripping agent K-PT205, it can easily achieve premium flame retardant ratings.

Limitations

Restricted by the EU REACH regulation (PFBS and its salts are listed as restricted substances), it suffers from insufficient environmental compliance and is gradually phased out from mainstream application markets.
