In fields such as high end optical devices, transparent electronic housings, and lighting components, polycarbonate (PC) is the material of choice due to its excellent light transmittance and impact resistance. However, simultaneously achieving high transparency and a high flame retardant rating (e.g., UL94 V0) has long been a technical challenge in the industry.
SFR-SI907 is a hydroxyphenyl silicone flame retardant synergist developed by EVERSUN. When used in PC flame retardant systems, it accelerates the char formation rate while maintaining high light transmittance and low haze. The following formulation is designed to balance flame retardant efficiency with optical performance:
PC: 99.1% + SFR -Si907: 0.5% + KSS (flame retardant): 0.4%
This formulation system delivers outstanding flame retardant performance. The modified flame retardant PC can achieve 88.6% light transmittance, 1.22% haze, and a tensile strength of 68.6 MPa.
